Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra on Monday emphasised on strengthening the rural road connectivity for ensuring development and prosperity in every corner of the state.

Governor Mishra chaired a high-level meeting on road connectivity with special reference to the 157-km Miao-Vijaynagar Road at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar on Monday.

During the meeting, the Governor asked the officials and the authorities concerned to be ready to go into the details of each project and work with anticipation to remove any cause of delay in the road construction work.

“As socio-economic development of the rural communities, particularly agrarian community and entrepreneurs in horticulture depend, inter alia, on the availability of good road, the concerned officers must take up rural connectivity on a mission mode,” the Governor said.

“A good road is for the welfare of the people and it adds to national security,” he said.

The Governor said that the road projects must be planned for long-term use and care must be taken for their durability and robustness.

“Due to the difficult terrain and climate, if conventional methods of road construction are not feasible, the implementing agencies must use alternative latest technologies to have good roads in the state,” he said.

The Governor said that a concerted effort is needed by all to expedite the construction of the Miao-Vijaynagar Road.

Rural works department minister Honchun Ngandam, urban development and civil supplies minister Kamlung Mosang, principal chief conservator of forests Lal Ram Thanga, RWD secretary Kapa Kholie, chief engineer Doli Nyodu and executive engineer M Rike were also present in the meeting.
