With the water level of the major rivers is rising rapidly following incessant rains in the past few days, the district administration of Hailakandi in Assam gears up to tackle flood situation in the district.
The district administration has directed the water resources and other line departments to remain fully alert for dealing with the situation.
The district administration has cancelled leave permission of the employees posted in the headquarters and directed them to remain alert to deal with any exigency.

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel have been asked to remain on standby mode to evacuate marooned people from the flood affected areas.
Katakhal river is flowing above the danger level of 20.27 metre and Dhaleswari river at 28.05 metre.
The water level of Katakhal and Dhaleswari rivers recorded by the water resources department at Matijuri and Gharmura sites on Friday at 21.05 metre and 29.62 metre respectively.

The Barak river has also witnessed a rising trend flowing just 0.72 metre below the danger level of 19.83 metre.
Hailakand district and its adjoining areas recorded 55 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours.
Deputy commissioner Keerthi Jalli has been closely monitoring the situation in the district following incessant rains in the past couple of days.
District project officer of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Rupjoy Maibangsa has directed all the field officers to report any flood related happenings in their respective revenue circles for prompt action.
The health authorities have formed medical teams sub-centre wise for providing timely medical care and treatment to the flood affected people.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the flood situation at a high level meeting at Dispur on Thursday.
Sonowal asked the deputy commissioners through a video conferencing to gird up their loins to provide succour to the flood-hit people.
The chief minister asked the DCs to activate 24×7 control rooms for immediate response to the flood situation in their districts.
A total of 17 districts of the state are reeling under flood waters in the second wave affecting over four lakh people.
