A contingent of marijuana (ganja) weighing 17 kg was seized from a vehicle by North Lakhimpur police on Tuesday evening.
The seizure of the narcotics took place at Khanajan under Silonibari police outpost in Lakhimpur district.
The police seized the consignment of marijuana from a three-wheeler with registration number AS-O7 C-8694 driven by one Phuleswar Chutia.
The narcotics were being carried by one Dharani Das, son of late Dambaru Das of Bosagaon under Panigaon police station.
The police team, led by the deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Headquarter, Runa Neog along with inspector-in-charge of Silonibari police outpost Jitumoni Kalita, also recovered cash amount of Rs. 22,000 from Dharani Das.
