Dacoits nabbed

The riding squad of Cachar police arrested four dacoits in the wee hours on Sunday from the heart of Silchar town.

All four of the arrested dacoits were trying to break open a mobile shop at the opposite of Silchar’s Civil Hospital when they were caught by the Cachar police’s riding squad.

The four dacoits have been identified as 20-year-old Dulal Ahmed, 26-year-old Iqbal Hassan, 27-year-old Noimur Raja Choudhury and 28-year-old Riju Ahmed.

All of them are residents of Sadarashi of Karimganj district.

The police team also seized a car with registration No NL-07-2022, one .9mm pistol with three rounds of bullets, 2 shovels, 8 mobile phones, two sharp weapons among others.

Police are investigating into the matter and are trying to find out the den of the dacoits.

Police sources informed, “We are pretty sure of them having other deadly weapons in their possession. We are contacting our counterparts in Karimganj to help us with additional details,” said a police officer without disclosing his identity.
