Minati Devi Kakati, a poet and president of Jamunamukh Poet Association in Hojai district, has been chosen for Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Award.
Samata Sahitya Academy, a national organization, will honour Kakati with the award at the National Samata Conference 2019 to be held at Gangtok, the state capital of Sikkim on June 9, 2019.
This has been informed by Dr. DS Tandekar, national president of the Samata Sahitya Academy.
Talking to Northeast Now, Dr. Hasinus Sultan, president and Jamiruddin Talukdar, general secretary of the Hojai District Poet Association have expressed their happiness at the selected of Kakati for the award.
They said, “We along with the poet association members are delighted to hear the news of Minati Devi Kakati to be honoured with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Award by Samata Sahitya Academy.”
They also extended their best wishes to Kakati and said, “This is good news for all the poet and writer fraternity of entire Hojai district along the state of Assam.”
Samata Sahitya Academy honours personalities for their enormous contributions in various fields like literature, social work, art, sports, singing and classical dance by presenting different awards.
