Founded in 1964 Madhabdev College is one of the leading centres of higher education in Lakhimpur district with both humanities and science streams.

It has a sprawling campus ideal for academic establishments like university and fairly good infrastructures. The news of the elevation of the Madhabdev College has been hailed by various forums including Narayanpur AASU and AJYCP and prominent citizens of Narayanpur, Bihpuria and North Lakhimpur.

The university now fulfills the aspirations of thousands of college pass outs to go for various masters programmes from interior areas of Lakhimpur, Biswanath and Majuli districts who usually could not make it to Dibrugarh and Gauhati University for long distances and limited intake capacities.
