Pro-talk ULFA leader Pranamoy Rajguru and little known TV actor Jahnabi Saikia, who were arrested by police on Thursday for their alleged involvement in a grenade blast in Guwahati, has been sent to 10-day police custody.

Both Rajguru and Saikia were on Friday produced in the Kamrup chief judicial magistrate (CJM)’s court, which remanded them in police custody for ten days.

At least eight people were injured in the grenade blast triggered by suspected ULFA (I) militants in front of Guwahati Central shopping mall on RG Baruah road here on Wednesday.

“Now they will be produced in the court on 27 May. The police asked for their 14-day custody. However, the court granted the remand of only 10 days,” said Bhaskar Dev Konwar, the counsel for the accused.

Rajguru and Jahnabi, who are from Sivasagar’s Amolapatty, were arrested on Thursday following a police raid at a house they had rented in the city’s Panjabari area.

Police also recovered a 9 mm pistol, 25 rounds of ammunition and some explosives from the house.
