Manipur is experiencing a kind of heat wave for the last four days with the weather remaining largely dry. The maximum temperature is 39 degrees Celsius.
In state capital Imphal, the summer is proving to be a scorcher with the sun beating down hard.
The maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius was recorded at Chandel district bordering Myanmar as per the daily weather report provided by climate change cell of the directorate of environment in Imphal.
In Chandel, the temperature has gone up to 40 degrees Celsius too while the minimum temperature stood at 19.52 degrees Celsius.

Manipur has been experiencing exceptionally hot weather since April. The weather turned a bit cool and pleasant when cyclone ‘Fani’ struck.
The cyclone left a trail of destruction in Manipur with trees getting uprooted and several houses damaged. Several hours of outage was reported from various parts of the state.
Four people were killed after boats capsized at Mapithel dam reservoir and Imphal river.
Manipur has also received deficit rainfall during January to April this year as per rainfall data of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Imphal centre.
January recorded just 3.4 mm of rainfall against previous year’s record of 13.5 mm. Similarly, in February, Manipur received 20.3 mm (against 40.9 mm), March 36 mm (against 75 mm) and April 70 mm (against 123 mm).
Manipur receives an average annual rainfall of around 1,400 mm.
