Reacting to former Union Home Secretary GK Pillai’s jibe on proscribed ULFA (I) and its chief Paresh Baruah, the rebel outfit on Saturday said that Pillai has no knowledge about the glorious history of Assam.

Coming down heavily on the former Union Home Secretary, ULFA (I) in an emailed statement said, “The statement made by Pillai in Dhekiajuli is ridiculous. It’s a childish comment.”

“He has made such remarks due to lack of his knowledge about the glorious history of Assam. He does not know anything about the revolutionary history of Assam,” said the ULFA (I).

The outfit said such comments is an insult for the people of Assam.

Former Union home secretary Pillai on Thursday had said ULFA (I) was “outdated” and there is no new matter to be discussed.

Pillai, who was in Dhekiajuli to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) at Batachipur, told reporters that ULFA (I) chief Barua is also outdated.

“In the name of revolution the so called Ulfa (I) supremo Paresh Barua is just maintaining a network of dissidents and some youths of the region with a misguided concept,” Pillai had said.
