Along with the rest of the world, Christians in Tripura observed Palm Sunday with full devotion to commemorate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into the Holy City of Jerusalem.

A Christian movable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter, Palm Sunday initiates Holy Week, the last week of Lent.

The rituals on Palm Sunday include a procession of the faithful carrying palm branches, representing the palm branches the crowd scattered in front of Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem.

Pastor priests accompanied by other clergy members recalling Christ’s entry to the Holy City, Christian devouts took out a procession with palm leaf from the Holy Cross and culminated it in the St Francis Xavier Cathedral Church in Durjoynagar, on the outskirts of capital city of Agartala.

Large number of devotees attended the church prayer services on Palm Sunday and prayed for universal peace and prosperity.
