The Bathou Traditional and Cultural Centre, Kokrajhar is all set to observe the ‘Gwthar Bathou San’ or the Bathou day at Bathou Thansali situated at Bagansali in Kokrajhar on January 23 next with a day-long programme.
As part of the day-long programme, a mass prayer for world peace will be held. A bathou cultural rally will also be held followed by an open session where BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary will attend as chief guest.
A reception committee has been formed with Mono Kumar Brahma, former BTC executive member as chairman for the smooth functioning of the Bathou san.
While talking to Northeast Now, the chairman of the reception committee, Mono Kumar Brahma said the Gwthar Bathousan is celebrated on the second Tuesday of the month of Magh, which is celebrated by the Bodos as Bathou san.
This year too, the day will be observed in a befitting way through various religious programmes.
The State Government has this year declared the day a full-fledged holiday in Assam.
