Asom Satra mahasabha

Kokrajhar, the nerve-centre of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) is all set to host the 52nd biennial full-fledged convention of the Asom Satra Mahasabha.

The convention will be a three-day affair and will be held from January 26 to 28 next at the Raas ground in Kokrajhar of BTAD region in Assam.

Meanwhile, for successful hosting of the convention a reception committee has been formed with Executive Member of BTC, Daneswar Goyary as president and uddhab Chandra Pathak, Krishna Mahanta and Nayan Jyoti Das as working presidents.

Addressing the media in Kokrajhar on Friday, the president of Asom Satra Mahasabha Jitendra nath Pradhan informed that the 52nd biennial full-fledged convention of the Asom Satra Mahasabha is being organized in Kokrajhar under the aegis of Kokrajhar Naamghar and district unit of the Mahasabha.

The president of the reception committee was also present during the media briefing who detailed about the brisk preparations going on for the convention.

The convention will be attended by hundreds of Satradhikars, delegates and followers from across the State, particularly from the river island of Majuli, the seat of Vaishnavite culture.

The organizers have informed that the open session of the convention will be attended by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley and BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary.

The president of the reception committee while welcoming one and all to the convention has also appealed to all parties and organizations not to undertake any agitational programme during the convention period.
