The Congress party in Assam has announced candidates for Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, reports TOI.

The list of candidates now includes MGVK Bhanu, former additional chief secretary, who will contest from polls from Tezpur.

An IAS officer from Andhra Pradesh of 1985 batch, Bhanu has previously served as additional chief minister to former chief minister Tarun Gogoi and then later as special secretary to late chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekharan.

Congress has also selected its chief whip Bhubaneswar Kalita who will be contesting from Mangaldai.

Also, Pradyut Bordoloi, former minster in the Traun Gogoi ministry, has been fielded from Nagaon and Anil Borgohain from Lakhimpur.

In its first list, the party had named sitting MP Gaurav Gogoi from Kalibor, All India Mahila Congress president and sitting MP Sushmita Deb (Silchar), Swarup Das (Karimganj), former MLA Sushanta Borgohain (Jorhat) and former union minister Paban Singh Ghatowar from Dibrugarh.
