Two Bangladeshi nationals were detained here for smuggling gold worth Rs 16 lakh, a customs official said on Tuesday.
“Abdul Ratif, 55, and Mizanur Rahman, 48, had come from Bangladesh and were trying to go to Kolkata by a private airline on Monday night,” a customs official said.
“The Central Industrial Security Force troopers recovered five gold biscuits each weighing 100 gram from them at the airport,” he said.
“Both the accused have not been formally arrested. Legal aspects are being looked into before we take further action,” the official added.
