Two women entrepreneurs from Arunachal Pradesh-- Siyang Eko and Aitoki Doley--were awarded an Assam based NGO.

Two women entrepreneurs from Arunachal Pradesh– Siyang Eko and Aitoki Doley– of East Siang district were awarded by ‘Anuprerona’- an Assam based NGO during a meeting in Guwahati on account of International Women’s Day on Friday.

Siayng Eko, a resident of Pasighat town, achieved success in commercial mushroom cultivation.

She has developed a mushroom garden at Pasighat and producing oyster mushroom, which are being supplies to the local markets.

Aitoki Doley of Oyan village bordering to Assam is running a community skill development & training centre at her residence.

The training centre has been recognized by the Silk Mark Organization of India sponsored by Central Silk Board (CSB) run under Ministry of Textiles, Government of India for production of quality silk cloths.

The central agency, which controls quality of silk products, has allowed using ‘Silk Mark’ on 100 percent natural cloths produced by the skill development centre.

The training centre since its inception in July 2014 has been conducting skill development training for creating self-employment avenues in rural areas. As such, it is implementing central-sponsored projects for economic enhancement of the rural entrepreneurs through handloom and handicraft activities.

The Anuprerona (NGO) led by senior journalists- Dhirendranath Chakravarty and Deepjyoti Saikia as its president and general secretary had selected altogether 26 successful woman entrepreneurs from the northeastern states, who were given honour with certificate and memento and Assamese (traditional) Mekhela-Sadar (attires) on the International Day.

The organization as part its social welfare activities encourages special achievers including women entrepreneurs through proper recognition and awards.

“We will also select efficient mediapersons of the region, who are playing active role in social reforms, for award next time”, the organizers said.
