Sahari foundation is organizing the GoRun Guwahati City Marathon on January 17 next co-inciding with Shilpi Divas to support the differently-abled children. This is a quarterly fundraising charity event wherein participants can choose to walk or run for a cause close to their hearts.

GoRun motivates individuals to stay fit with a healthy body and happy mind.

GoRun Marathon event along with Silpi Divas 2018 is being organized for the second time by Sahari Foundation, Guwahati.

Sahari Foundation is an activity working organization run by a group of young dynamic minds to bring about changes in the areas of social issues and welfare of the society. The event also celebrates the glory of Shilpi Divas with a  noble cause for special needs children  at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio on the day.

The event also has a special celebration of Shilpi Divas wherein writers, artists, musicians, actors from the State film industry will be felicitated. The event also has performances by differently abled children with prize ceremony to the winners of art, music and dance competitions for both able and differently abled categories to bring a sense of inclusiveness among them.

The walk will be flagged off from Ganesh Mandir at 6 am and end at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio with hydration posts set up at every four km and an arrangement for post run refreshments.

The event will be organised in two different categories – competitive and non-competitive. In the competitive event, the participants have to take part in a 10 km city marathon, the registration fees for which is Rs 200. Whereas, for non-competitive event, the participants will take part in a three km cause run which does not require any registration fees. Participants can donate for the differently-abled children as per their wish, the organizers have said.

The winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 5,000 along with a medal, winner t-shirt and gift hampers, while the first and second runners-up will be awarded medals, winner t-shirts and gift hampers each. Apart from that, they will be eligible for free entry to ‘Power to Fitness’ to be held in February. All participants will be given certificates and all finishers will be awarded with medals.
