Kiphire district of Nagaland has not received a single penny and there is no funding from the government from the day Kiphire was declared as an Aspirational district since November 2017.

This was stated by nodal officer in-charge for Kiphire Aspirational District, ADC Reny Wilfred, during the Kiphire District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Kohima on Wednesday, according to reports.

ADC Wilfred made the statement when the United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) put up the agenda to discuss the current status of the ‘Aspirational District’ programme.

He also mentioned that since the Aspirational Programme rests on the convergence of various funds and projects, the district is still awaiting fund release for the financial year 2018-19.

As such, the district administration tasked with coordination of flagship schemes could not progress as there was no fund/implementation happening under flagship schemes.

Giving the status report on repair of roads going on in Kiphire town, a representative from R&B department said work is still progressing. Wilfred pulled up the R&B department for not efficiently implementing the work and failing to maintain the quality and standard of the roads. He also added that the department was not co-operating with the administration.

This was stated in an official press release.
