Sensation prevails following the recovery of a middle aged woman’s body from a pond in Protekrai village under Kadamtala Police station in Tripura on Monday morning. It is suspected that the woman was gang raped and later the miscreants threw her body into the pond.
The incident took place when the victim woke up in the midnight for going to toilet and since then she was missing.
The next morning her husband Birendra Malakar went for searching her but couldn’t trace her. Thereafter a missing complaint was also lodged at Kadamtala police station. After searching for a while the women’s body was found from a pond located 1.5 km from her house. The victim’s husband raised alarm after seeing his wife’s body in the pond.
Her husband then approached the Dharmanagar police and later along with SDPO Jotishman Das Chowdhury he reached the spot and recovered the body from the pond.
Later post mortem was done at Dharmanagar hospital. The incident has triggered huge resentment among the villagers. The locals of the area alleged lack of security in the area. The people further demanded proper investigation into the case.
Local BJP leader Kajal Das, general secretary of BJP North District demanded proper investigation into the case and immediate arrest of the culprits.
