Seven-coloured tea is a hot attraction in Bangladesh.

This form of tea was invented by a tea vendor named Romesh Ram Gaur in northeastern Moulvibazar district, the tea capital of Bangladesh about a decade ago, reports Xinhua news agency.

Gaur, who developed the art of layering different coloured layers of tea in a glass used to do it secretly away from the public. The layers not only varied in colour but also in taste.

Many people from different areas of Bangladesh used to visit the Srimongol town in Moulvibazar to have the unique seven-colour tea.

However, some tea vendors learnt the art of making seven-colour tea or as locally called, Rangdhonu tea.

One of the tea vendors who learnt the art of Rangdhonu tea, Saiful Islam opened a Rangdhonu tea store in Dhaka’s eastern Taltola market.

Islam said that he somehow learnt the art of making Rangdhonu tea and opened a Rangdhonu tea store after moving to Dhaka.

He also added the tea layers are separate are not mixed together.

He also said that the seven-colour tea is made without using any chemicals and is organic.

“We mix different types of locally and China-grown tea — three black teas and one green tea — with milk and various spices. Each mixture has a distinct colour and taste, and I pour one on top of another to create seven distinct bands of colours including orange, black, white, strawberry, milk and green”, he said.
