The BJP-led government in Tripura has prevented a NESO delegation from visiting Khunglung where four students were injured in police firing at a protest against Citizenship Bill on January 8.
The NESO delegation had met some of the injured youths at a hospital in Agartala on Thursday.
The delegation of North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) had gone to meet the injured students at Khunglung on Friday. The Tripura administration however, had stopped them at Agartala and did not allow them to proceed to Khunglung.

“Police stopped us from proceeding towards Khunglung, an area located around 29 kms from Agartala,” a NESO spokesman said adding that the delegation had gone to meet four of the injured students who were undergoing treatment at Khunglung hospital.

It may be mentioned here that the BJP- led government in Tripura has suspended mobile-based internet services across the state since January 8 when the incident took place. The personnel of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) fired at a group of protesters who were protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 at Madhab Bari in Western Tripura.
A total of six tribal youths received bullet injuries during the incident. One of them with serious injuries were shifted to Kolkata for better treatment while four are undergoing treatment at Khunglong civil hospital
