The BJP Tripura State Committee on Monday expelled four of its leaders for allegedly taking part in ‘anti-party activities’.

The expelled leaders in Unakoti district also included office-bearers and they were allegedly being ‘indisciplined’.

According to a report in TOI, the expelled leaders are Gyandip Chakma, President of Janajati Morcha in Unakoti district, General Secretary Subham Chakma, District Committee Member Nirmal Nama, and Juba Morcha Vice-President Niranjan Nama.

BJP Spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee informed that the party leaders have been expelled for six years for ‘anti-party activities’. The decision has been approved by the BJP State President and Chief Minister Biplab Deb.

They had been repeatedly warned before and as a last resort the BJP had decided to expel them and take away their primary membership, added Bhattacharjee.

In the previous week, four local leaders of the BJP Sepahijala committee were expelled for engaging in ‘dissident activities’.
