Majibur Rahman, a former president of the Darrang District Congress Committee (DDCC) and an executive member of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) passed away on Monday night due to cardiac arrest.

According to family sources, Majibur Rahman’s health condition suddenly turned serious in the night on Monday and he was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Amingaon where he was declared dead after initial treatment.

He was 62 years old at the time of demise.

Majibur Rahman serving as the president of the Darrang District Congress Committee for quite a long time.

He also contested from the Kalaigaon Legislative Assembly Constituency on Congress ticket.

Several Congress leaders of the State including MLA Ilias Ali, former Ministers Basanta Das and Dr Zoiinath Sarma; Darrang District Congress Committee president Wahida Ahmed; Partha Pratim Das visited the residence of of late Rahman at Bandiya village and paid their last homage to the departed soul.

His last rites were conducted on Tuesday.
