Sensation prevailed in the entire area after five Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters including an octogenarian party activist were injured in a group clash at Purba Nalchar area in Sonamura sub-division of Tripura on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, though an FIR has been lodged with Melagarh police station but no arrest has been made so far. Additional police were deployed at Purba Nalchar area to defuse the tension, reports tripurainfo.com.

Violence erupted after a clash between two groups – one headed by district president of Kishan Morcha and another led by a member of Nalachar Panchayat Samity at Nalachear area. It has been alleged that the district president of Kishan Morcha has been forcefully taking away fertilizer from a BLW store for the past few months and sale it in exorbitant price.

Lately, a BJP member of Nalchar Panchayat Samity strongly objected to the practice of Kishan Moracha’s leader and he was asked not to do this again.

Taking the matter seriously, some supporters of Kishan Morcha’s leader on Wednesday attacked a few party supporters belong to the group led by Panchayat Samity member. There was counter attack too.

As a result, five party supporters were injured. Out of the total injured persons, two of them – Sankar Nama and Dinesh Das suffered multiple injuries.

Meanwhile, tension runs high at Purba Nalchar area following the group clash among BJP workers.
