The Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve Project in Darrang district, which is considered as the Mini Kaziranga for its large number of fauna and flora including one-horned rhino and Royal Bengal, has been reopened for the visitors from Thursday for the current season.
Nature lover and Principal of Kharupetia College Dr Budhindra Chandra Hazarika ceremonially reopened the park by cutting the ribbon in a function organised on the occasion in the main entrance of the Park.
This was stated by the Public Relation Officer of the State Forest and Environment Minister Parimal Suklavaidya.
The function was attended by the senior forest officials and staff members of Mangaldai Wildlife Division including the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), R Gogoi and students of local institutions among others.
The students also performed cultural programmes on the occasion, sources added.
The Kazirang National Park, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and Manas National Park have already been opened for visitors.

The Kaziranga National Park (KNP) was reopened for visitors on October 12 after a gap of around six months, with the first batch of tourists to avail the elephant safari comprising visitors from different parts of the county as well as from abroad.
Assam Forest and Environment Minister Parimal Suklabaidya opened the park for visitors at Mihimukh in the presence of Agriculture Minister Atul Bora and Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta and senior forest officials.
Kaziranga National Park officials said about 150 tourists including 30 foreigners have kick-started their jungle adventure on the opening day on October 12, 2018.
