The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) has extended his greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

It commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

He expressed his confidence that the National Unity Day celebration of October 31 will continue to strengthen the spirit of cooperation, peace and amity in the State and the nation.

In his message, the Governor said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the RASHTRA RACHAITA (Unifier of the Nation) was the epitome of India’s unity. A staunch freedom fighter and a great politico-strategic visionary, he played crucial role, after India’s Independence, in the unification of 562 Indian Princely States into the Indian Union.

For integrating some arrogant Princes with the Nation, when all options to convince them to join voluntarily the Indian Union failed, Sardar Patel exercised tough option. The Nizam, Ruler of Hyderabad State had to make a humiliating acquiescence after Police Action by Indian Government and his State was merged with the Union of India. Sardar Patel took up a strong posture against the Nawab of Junagarh for his recalcitrant and bellicose approach as well. In remembrance of Sardar Patel, the best tribute, therefore, for us, every Indian today, is to work tirelessly to keep, INDIA together and to crush the nefarious fissiparous and divisive forces raising their ugly head in the country, the Governor said.

On the occasion, as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Governor appealed to the people of our State and country, particularly the young generation to develop fraternity, assuring the dignity of individual and unity and integrity of the Nation.
