The Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati added new security check-in gates for faster and smooth passenger movements in the departure area on Saturday.

According to information, the newly-renovated security hold area (SHA), having multiple check-in gates at the Guwahati Airport, was inaugurated by MP Dr L. Hanumanthaiah Rao, Member, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport Culture and Tourism.

The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Usha Padhee, Joint Secretary, Minister of Civil Aviation; DK Kamra, Regional Executive Director, North East Region; Ramesh Kr, APD Guwahati.

“This will reduce passengers’ check-in time and help in better operations of the airport with better utilization of first floor security hold area,” stated sources.

Sources further stated that the new security check-in gates will further get better once two more Aerobridges get Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) clearance.

The total passenger boarding bay will be four, sources added.

The Airport Authority of India (AAI), airline officials and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials were also present on the occasion who helped passengers in getting in through the new security area, sources added.
