A two day Workshop on Amur Falcon (Falco Amurensis) and conservation of wildlife was inaugurated here at the Zeliangrong Evangelistic Fellowship hall at Tamenglong district headquarters, 150km west of Imphal on Monday.

The workshop was organized by Bombay Natural History Society(BNHS), Mumbai, Centre for conservation of nature & cultivation of science Manipur(CCNCS) in association with Rainforest club Tamenglong and Tamenglong forest division Manipur.

The Chief medical officer Dr Chambo Gonmei and Nehmiah Pamei both honorary wild life warden, Rainforest Club Tamenglong, Range officer Kh Hitler of western forest division, Rainforest club Tamenglong president Gaisui Gonmei led club functionaries, associate prof RK Birjit, managing trustee of CCNCS, associate prof N Sony meitei of Moirang college, CCNCS functionaries including winner of NE body can sing 2014 H Rahul, village chairmen and village authority members of Dailong, Bhallok and others took part in the inaugural session.

In the day’s technical session of the workshop, Dr Neha Sinha, policy officer of BNHS Mumbai spoke about Amur falcon and it’s production estimate while associate professor RK Birjit spoke on diversity of birds. Herpitologist Vishal Santra, a reptiles expert of Simultala conservation Kolkata spoke on reptiles and amphibians and associate Prof N Sony on fish diversity.

Earlier those who worked on conservation activities in Tamenglong were given recognition by United Kingdom based Birdlife International by by Dr Neha during the day’s event.

Managing trustee of CCNCS RK Birjit also handed over a binocular provided by Royal Society for Protection of Birds, UK to the functionaries of Rainforest Club Tamenglong.
