One overground worker of NSCN (IM) was apprehended by the Army at Sonari-Namtola road in Charaideo district on Tuesday.

According to the Army sources, the 9th Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles based on specific intelligence received from its own local sources regarding presence of NSCN (IM) over ground worker in Sonari – Namtola road, launched an operation and apprehended the cadre.

The cadre has been identified as Wanglei Konyak (42) of Longphok village in Mon district of Nagaland.

One .22 mm pistol (factory made) was recovered from the NSCN (IM) overground worker.

The cadre was handed over to Namtola police station.

This operation is part of the ongoing crack down by security forces on the terrorist organisation active in Upper Assam wherein several underground cadre have been neutralized in past few week.
