The prices of petrol and diesel in Assam will go down by Rs 5 from the existing rate.

This has been announced by Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through his Twitter handle.

State Finance Minister Sarma on his Twitter handle on Thursday stated that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has announced to cut the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.50 per litre while the Assam Government has also decided to reduce the current prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.50 per litre. This will reduce the current prices of both petrol and diesel by Rs 5 per litre.

Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “Following Fin Minister Sri Arun Jaitley announcement of cut of Rs 2.50 per litre in petrol & diesel prices, glad to share that Assam Govt has also decided to reduce Rs 2.50 on both petrol & diesel per litre, making it Rs 5 less than prevailing rates.”

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also tweeted: “In order to ease burden on common people & in tandem with the announcement of FM Shri Arun Jaitley ji to cut prices of petrol & diesel by Rs 2.50, Govt of Assam has decided to reduce tax on petrol & diesel prices by Rs 2.50 thereby making them cheaper by Rs 5 in Assam.”

It may be mentioned that the current (October 4, 2018) petrol price in Guwahati is Rs 86.44 per litre while the price of diesel in the city on Thursday is Rs 78.79 per litre.
