Guwahati Municipal Corporation inaugurated Swachh Survekshan 2018 at the Guwahati Town Club. Dignitaries like GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania, Commissioner GMC Monalisa Goswami, noted actor Kopil Bora and small screen actor Sagarika Goswami, were present at the event.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, is conducting Swachh Survekshan 2018 as a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). The aim of this mission is to encourage cities to improve their urban sanitation.
The objective of the survey is to encourage large scale citizen participation and create awareness amongst all sections of society about the importance of working together towards making towns and cities a better place to live in. Additionally, the survey also intends to foster a spirit of healthy competition among towns and cities to improve their service delivery to citizens, towards creating cleaner cities.
In her keynote address, Monalisa Goswami informed the people about the Swachhata App. With the help of this app, citizens can register their complaints and the authorities will immediately look into it within a specific time frame.
