Amidst much enthusiasm and after months-long preparation the 34th annual conference of
Bebak Rabha Kraurang Runchum or All Rabha Sahitya Sabha kicked off at Chibakai Satish Chandra Rabha Sumursini Mapak Dam in Tangla of Assam’s Udalguri on Wednesday.
A festive atmosphere prevailed in the entire town with young and old dressed in traditional Rabha outfits, are thronging the venue spread across an area of 40 bighas of land.
The first day’s programme began with inauguration of the4 main gate by Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Executive Member Jagadish Sarkar followed by inauguration of the dining hall, guest house, main pandal, cultural stage among others by various dignitaries including physician of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Dr Pradip Kr Rabha, former principal of Tangla College, Keshab Ch Dutta, Kalaigaon MLA, Maheswar Boro and BTC EM Lwmshrao Daimari.
In the evening a cultural night programme was also held.
The four day extravaganza include exhibition and colourful cultural programmes of different communities besides holding literary symposiums, book fairs and an open session which will be attended by delegates, public leaders, educationists, social reformers and scholars from different parts of the country including Governor Jagadish Mukhi , AASU adviser Dr Sammujjal Kr Bhattacharjya on December 29, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, BTC Chief Hagrama Mahillary , Chief Executive Member RHAC, Tankeswar Rabha on the concluding day ie December 30.
