Arunachal Pradesh governor Dr B D Mishra met Union Minister of State for Tourism K J Alphons in New Delhi on Thursday. They discussed specific issues for enhancing and promoting tourism in the state.

The governor, who is on an official visit to the national capital, emphasized the need for holistic approach in harnessing the tourism potential of Arunachal Pradesh. He requested Alphons to commission eco-friendly, tourist-friendly and socially beneficial projects in the state.

As a follow-up action of his recent meeting with the head priest of Parashuram Kund and his earlier visit to the spot, the governor impressed upon the minister for its overall holistic development to promote spiritualism and age-old values, while keeping the culture and traditions of the Kund undisturbed.

Sharing his experience of climbing more than 400 steep steps down to the Kund from the hilltop near the temple premise, the governor said the need of the time is to facilitate the aged pilgrims and women to perform their ‘Puja’ with convenience and safety, so that they can carry back good experience from the pilgrimage.

He suggested for appropriate provision of the holy water in well approachable Kund and also with special care for the exclusiveness for women pilgrims.
