Rabongla is gearing up to host Rabong Chodzo Fest in a grand manner from October 28 to 30 at Chodzo Lake premises, Rabongla in South Sikkim. The three-day long tourism festival will have a series of cultural, traditional, musical, adventurous and other activities and events.

An organising committee has been formed for this festival in a grand manner, which has the Sikkim Power Minister DD Bhutia as chief patron.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, minister Bhutia said the main objective of the festival is to promote tourism places of Rabongla sub-division in the national and international levels and also to promote talents of local artists of Sikkim by providing them wider platform.

He said Rabongla has been working since 2006 on the vision of Sikkim chief minister to promote Sikkim tourism. He said Chodzo Lake has been developed as a major tourism destination of the state.

Bhutia said the festival is coinciding with the 10th edition of North East Riders Meet scheduled to be held from October 26 to 28 at Barfung in Rabongla in South Sikkim. Open Road Wanderers Motorcycle Club of Sikkim (ORWMCS) is hosting this event for the first time in Sikkim. He informed media that the organising committee of the festival had decided to invite chief minister Pawan Chamling as the chief guest on October 28.

The festival will showcase the traditional foods and cuisines, costumes, system and culture of Sikkim. The festival has also been working to preserve the cultural and traditional heritage of the state.
