The death of a teenager and that too for an overdose of fatal drugs, is still the talk of Silchar town.

Speaking before the media for the first time post death of Debraj Roy, a 16 year old boy, and that too in a boys’ hostel where he was not a boarder, his parents have filed an FIR on Tuesday night last, of him being murdered.

Speaking to journalists at their residence at Radhamadhav road in Silchar on Thursady evening, Gopal Chandra Roy and Babita Roy, the father and mother of Debraj, along with other relatives, categorically stated that Debraj was never a drug addict for him to face such a fatal death.

In an FIR filed on Tuesday night last, parents of Debraj Roy have appealed to the police to investigate into the matter thoroughly.

Accusing on Nishal Singha, one who in fact took Debraj to that hostel as alleged by his parents, was a drug addict and they suspect Nishal and a few of his accomplices have forcefully injected Debraj with fatal drugs.

Gopal Chandra Roy, speaking to Northeast Now said, “The police have assured us to show CCTV footages of that day post 12 noon when he went out of our residence with Rs 400 in his pocket. With Rs 350 he repaired his mobile and just had another Rs 50 in his pocket. The last call I received was at around 3 pm when he informed of coming back home and was with his friend Nishal at Panchayat road. From 5 pm onwards till the next morning on Monday I kept ringing him for more than 500 times, but did not get any response back. At 8:30 am on Monday the mobile phone went dead.”
