A self-styled godman known as ‘Chuma Baba’ in a remote village in Morigaon district of Assam, who claimed to have possessed supernatural power of curing problems with his miraculous smooch, landed behind the bar on Wednesday.

The ‘Chuma Baba’ or ‘Kissing Baba’ devised a new way of solving the day-to-day problems of mankind. He kisses and hugs people who visit him for curing their problems —- that include even marital discord.

‘Chuma’ is an Assamese term for ‘kiss’ or ‘smooch’. And Baba used ‘to transmit his supernatural power’ either by smooching or hugging his devotees.

Ram Prakash Chauhan, known as the ‘Chuma Baba’ for his smooch therapy, set up his temple in remote Bhoraltup village in Morigaon district couple of months back.

It may be mentioned here that Mayong in Morigaon district is known as the Land of Black Magic.

Chauhan’s mother was instrumental in spreading the news of her son’s therapeutic powers which he has attained as ‘a gift from Lord Vishnu’.  Baba’s visitors were mostly females from nearby areas.

Baba’s kiss and hug therapy later created controversy and police after receiving complaints against Baba swung into action and arrested him on the ground of sexually exploiting women.

Chauhan’s mother was also arrested by police for abetting her son in exploiting the women devotees.
