The National People’s Party (NPP) on Tuesday celebrated the completion of one year of its establishment in Arunachal Pradesh in a befitting manner here.

The NPP was formed in the state on August 7 last year after a large number of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders had dissolved the party and merged with it.

Addressing the party workers and leader on the occasion, party state president, Gicho Kabak said the ideology of the NPP is to promote tribal, scheduled caste and other backward class besides protecting the interest of all faiths by upholding the seculars enshrined in the constitution of India.

“NPP is one of the major players in Northeast politics and will become one of the prominent players in the national stage soon,” he said.

Stating that the NPP party is ready to put together a pre-poll alliance with ‘like-minded parties’ in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Kabak on the day also asserted that a BJP and NPP alliance government would be formed in Arunachal Pradesh shortly.

Seven of the nine MLAs of the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) had earlier this month joined the NPP headed by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.

Kabak further claimed that maximum numbers of youths are joining the NPP and the same is strengthening the roots of the party in the Northeast.

NPP state vice-president Nima Sangey Saling highlighted the growth of the party in the state and said that NPP, in a short span of time has established party organizations in 17 districts of the state and the remaining five districts would be covered shortly.

He encouraged the party workers to work hard for expansion of the party up till the grass root level before the parliament and assembly elections in state.

MLA Tanga Byaling, Mutchu Mithi and Tirang Aboh also spoke and encouraged the party leaders.

Expressing full faith on the leadership of party president Conrad K Sangma, the legislators said that they were committed to work for the greater interest of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Party vice-president, Anok Wangsa, general secretaries Porchu Tamin and Kibi Kali, youth president Kamsi Bage and all the district presidents spoke on the occasion.
