BGB team leader Hasan on his arrival in Tripura said, “We have all border related issues that includes smuggling of drugs, human trafficking, the killing of innocent people and all these.”

When asked about the present relation between the Indian and Bangladesh border guards he said, ‘outstanding, excellent, beautiful’.

He also expressed his worry on the entry of ‘Yuba’ tablets to Bangladesh via India and which shall be one of the prime agenda during the discussion.

BSF DIG Ashoke Kumar Yadav and DIG Mrityunjoy Kumar received the BGB delegation at the zero point of Agartala-Akhaura land port.

Later, the BSF also gave a ceremonial welcome to their Bangladeshi counterparts.

The BGB team is leaving this afternoon for Kolkata for a scheduled meeting there on Monday.

The team shall return to Bangladesh on Wednesday by Agartala ICP.

Out of the total 4156 km India-Bangladesh border, Tripura which is encircled on three sides by the international border shares 856 km with Bangladesh.

Though more than 90 per cent of the Tripura’s border with Bangladesh is fenced but still smuggling of drugs in the form of contraband cough syrup, ganja, and various tables is a matter of concern for both the nations.
