Sikkim Premier Division League by Sikkim Football Association will be kicked off on Saturday here at Paljor Stadium. Eight teams are in the fray for the title of the premier division league of the state.

United Sikkim Football Club is the defending champion of the league, while other participating clubs are State Sports Academy, Pakyong United Football Club, Sikkim Himalayan Sporting Club, Sikkim Aakraman Football Club, Boys’ Club Gangtok, Unicorn Football Club and SAI Namchi. After finishing at top two places in the second division league last year, Unicorn FC and SAI Namchi were promoted to the premier division for this year.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, SFA president Menla Ethenpa said the premier division league will be conducted from July 21 to August 27.  He informed that top four teams in the point tally of the league as on August 5 will get entry in the upcoming Independence Day Football Tournament.

Apart from top four teams of the premier division, top two teams of the recently concluded second division league 2018 and two teams from outside the state will be participating in the I-Day football tournament. The champion’s trophy of the league was also unveiled by the SFA during the press conference.

SFA has welcomed the football lovers and people of the state to witness matches in the league to support and encourage local clubs of the state.
