Darrang police on Wednesday nabbed 13 dacoits near Bamunpara village under Mangaldai police station in Darrang district. They recovered cash worth Rs 2.14 lakh, gold ornaments worth more than 2 lakh, a tata sumo and sharp weapon along with several mobile handsets among others things.
The dacoit team reportedly carried out a dacoity at the house of one Rafijul Haque of village Rupori Chawk under Sipajhar police station of the district on Tuesday night.
They were apprehended by a patrolling police team of Mangaldai police station near Bamunpara village. The tata sumo vehicle seized bears the registration number AS 01 AM 1821.
The members of the gang belong to different places under Dhula, Kharupetia and Mangaldai police station of the district. The driver is a resident of Shimla police station area in Baska district. However a few other members of the gang managed to escape in an alto car, said the Darrang police.
