Arunachal Pradesh secured the overall team runner-up position with 12 gold, four silver and an equal number of bronze medals in the 3rd Wado National Karate Championship, which was held at Vadodara in Gujarat, from July 6 to 8.

The medal-winning players were given a warm felicitation on Saturday by the Arunachal Wado Karate Do Association.

The gold medalists are Tao Lushi (girls’ kumite), Yapung Sonam and Tap Menia (women’s kumite), Taba Nyokum (boys’ kumite), Niya Tao (boys’ kumite), Likha Lej (men’s kumite and kata), Gollo John (men’s kumite and kata), David Rijiju, Likha Oum, and Nongchem Hodong (all in men’s kumite).

While Taj Aku and Chuku Sha bagged a silver medal each in boys’ kumite, Tao Yajo and Tao Aman won a silver medal each in women’s kata and men’s kumite, respectively. Tao Yajo and Niya Tao also bagged a bronze each in women’s kumite and boys’ kata events, respectively.

The other two bronze medalists are Likha Dol (boys’ kumite) and Neta Menjo (men’s kumite).
