Imphal: Security forces, in a joint operation, recovered a significant cache of weapons and explosives in the Jiribam district of Manipur, bordering Assam.

The operation, conducted in coordination with Manipur police, targeted militant hideouts in the region.

In a raid on Mongbung, a predominantly Kuki-Zo-inhabited area, authorities discovered a stash of weapons, including one .32 Pistol with two magazines, 31 live ammunition rounds, 16 Pompi Bombs, 761 empty cases, gunpowder, a safety fuse and a walkie-talkie set.

The seized items were handed over to the Jiribam police station for further investigation and legal action.

In a separate incident, Manipur Police rescued a 16-year-old Kuki boy, Mangboisang Singson, from Khasia Punji Village in Jiribam.

The boy had ventured out from his home in Phaitol, Tamenglong, and was later handed over to his family.
