Guwahati: NHPC, India’s leading hydropower generation company, celebrated a significant milestone as it was conferred with the prestigious Navratna status.

In a grand ceremony held at its Corporate Office in Faridabad, R.K. Chaudhary, CMD of NHPC, addressed employees to mark this achievement.

The Navratna status, bestowed by the Government of India on August 30, 2024, recognizes NHPC’s exceptional performance, financial stability, and contribution to the nation’s energy sector.

The company’s journey of nearly five decades has been marked by innovation, operational excellence, and a commitment to sustainable energy.

In his address, Chaudhary congratulated NHPC employees for their dedication and hard work, which have been instrumental in securing the Navratna status.

He emphasized that this achievement is a testament to the collective efforts of every member of the NHPC family.

Chaudhary also expressed gratitude to the Department of Public Enterprises and the Ministry of Power for their support and guidance. He highlighted NHPC‘s evolution from a hydropower company to a leader in renewable energy, with a focus on pumped storage, solar energy, and green hydrogen initiatives.

The CMD proudly noted NHPC’s landmark projects, including India’s first Concrete Face Rockfill Dam at Dhauliganga, the world’s longest inclined pressure shaft at Parbati-II, and the largest reservoir at Indira Sagar.

He underscored the company’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence, as evidenced by early project completions and advanced construction techniques.

Chaudhary urged employees to embrace the responsibilities that come with the Navratna status. He emphasized the need for continuous improvement, skill development, and unwavering commitment to NHPC’s mission.
