Guwahati: The United Opposition Forum of Assam, comprising 18 opposition parties, has called for the immediate removal of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Demanding the removal, the forum submitted a memorandum to the President of India, Draupadi Murmu through the Assam Governor.
In the memorandum, they cited alleged violations of the Indian Constitution and gross mismanagement of the state by the CM.

The forum also highlighted several instances of Sarma’s controversial behaviour.
He said that the CM recently claimed to be a “mad dog” during a BJP meeting, which raised questions about his mental fitness to hold office.

They stated that the CM made hate speeches and provocative statements targeting the Muslim community, including inciting violence and promoting communal disharmony.
Along with these, the forum highlighted the CM’s “failure to address” the rising crime rate, police encounters, and deaths in the state, with Assam recording the highest number of police encounters and deaths in the country.
The opposition forum further urged the President to take immediate action and remove Sarma from office, citing his alleged compromise of the Constitution and his inability to govern the state effectively.
