Digboi: Digboi Refinery in Assam under the leadership of Executive Director and Refinery Head Ajay Kaila, is doubling down on its commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.

The refinery is actively engaged in large-scale plantation drives using the Miyawaki method and is a keen participant in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.

“We are aiming to plant at least six lakh saplings this year,” Kaila announced during a media interaction at the Digboi Golden Jubilee Complex. “These initiatives underscore our dedication to creating a greener future.”

The refinery has also achieved operational excellence, surpassing targets for Fuel and Loss (F&L) and distillate yield. In his first quarter as ED&RH, Kaila led the refinery to exceed crude oil processing targets, achieving an impressive 193.4 MTPA against the target of 176 MTPA.

Beyond its core operations, Digboi Refinery is deeply invested in the well-being of the community. Its CSR initiatives span education, healthcare, and social welfare. The Assam Oil School of Nursing and Assam Oil College of Nursing are prime examples of the refinery’s commitment to healthcare. Additionally, the IndianOil Mrinaljyoti Rehabilitation Centre, partnerships with ALIMCO, and the ‘Sarbe Santu Niramaya’ health camp demonstrate a holistic approach to community welfare.

The refinery’s swift response to the recent floods, with a health camp providing medical assistance to over 500 affected individuals, further highlights its dedication to community support.

Kamal Basumatary, GM (HR), emphasized the refinery’s focus on improving the AOD Hospital’s services through increased logistics and quality manpower. He also praised the refinery’s contributions to public health.

Kaila’s leadership style has been met with optimism, with many comparing him to the highly regarded former ED, Subroto Ghosh. The media interaction provided a glimpse into a new era for Digboi Refinery, characterized by a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility, operational excellence, and community engagement.
