Manipur Governor designate arrives in Imphal for swearing-in ceremony.

Imphal: Lakshman Prasad Acharya who was officially sworn in as Assam governor on Tuesday (July 30)  at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati arrived at Imphal to be sworn in as the 19th Governor of Manipur on Wednesday.

He will also hold the additional charge of Manipur.

The swearing-in Ceremony of the new Governor will be held on Wednesday (July 31) at 09:30 a.m. at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, a Raj Bhavan communique said on Tuesday.

Governor designate of Manipur, Lakshman Prasad Acharya was given a warm reception at the Raj Bhavan.

He was accorded a warm welcome by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th. Satyabrata Singh, Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, DGP Rajiv Singh, and senior officers. Rashtriya Salute was accorded by personnel of Manipur Rifles and India Reserve Battalion.

Earlier, Governor designate Lakshman Prasad Acharya landed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal.

Upon arriving at the airport, he was warmly welcomed by high-ranking civil and police officers led by the Chief Secretary and DGP.

Later, the Chief Minister, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Ministers, and MLAs called on the outgoing Governor, Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan.

Chief Minister thanked the outgoing Governor for her role and contribution as the Constitutional Head of the State during her short term in Manipur as the Governor of the State.

Chief Minister also lauded her efforts in the run-up to restore peace and normalcy in the State since the outbreak of the conflict in May last year. He wished Miss Uikey a long and healthy life ahead.

Governor Anusuiya Uikey expressed her appreciation to the Chief Minister and his ministers for their cooperation and support during her tenure.
