The High Court of Tripura on Monday summoned Rajya Sabha MP and CPI (M) leader Jharna Das Baidya to appear and submit proper representation within two weeks.

Hearing a petition filed by Padma Mohan Jamatia against the MP, Justice Arindam Lodh issued the direction.

Jamatia had filed the petition with chief judicial magistrate of Gomati seeking action against Baidya for openly threatening the opposition supporters with dire consequences in an election rally at Karbook in December last year.

In a rally at Karbook on December 1 last year MP Jharna Das Baidya who is also CPI (M) ‘Nari Samiti’ leader, said after assembly election Sunil Deodhar will go to Maharashtra and Biplab Deb to his wife in Delhi, but BJP workers have to stay on this soil Tripura. She threatened opposition supporters of dire consequences and teaching lesson inch by inch ‘after election in February, before oath taking of Left Front ministry.’
