Assam Manipur: Two minors die after drowning in Churachandpur

Dibrugarh: The body of the missing student was recovered from Jonai’s Simen River in Assam’s Dhemaji district on Monday.

The student has been identified as Ajitej Hazarika of Dibrugarh.

According to reports, his body was found floating on the river on Monday after 72 hours of being missing.

According to reports, he went to Murkongselek with a group of six friends from Dibrugarh on the train and while taking a selfie he fell on the Simen River and drowned.

Ajitej was a Class-11 standard  student of Gyan Vigyan School in Dibrugarh. He climbed onto a rock to take a selfie and accidentally slipped into the river.

Despite a friend’s immediate attempt to rescue him, they were unable to pull him to safety.

The local police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel swiftly initiated a search operation but efforts were halted due to darkness on Friday evening.
