Imphal: Indian security forces conducted a successful operation in the Imphal West district of Manipur, recovering a significant cache of weapons over the past 36 hours.

Acting on intelligence regarding hidden arms in the Charoibung area, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police raided a suspected hideout on Wednesday.

The extensive search encompassed houses, fish farms, and paddy fields, resulting in the seizure of one Carbine Machine Gun, two single-barrel guns, twelve grenades, six tube launchers, ammunition, and various war-like stores.

While no arrests were made during the two-hour operation, the confiscated items, previously used by militants in ongoing violence, were handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and disposal.

Investigation to trace more such hauls is being carried out.
