Imphal: Arambai Tengol (AT) busted an alleged drug trafficking den in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Wednesday.

A total of 23 soap cases containing illegal drugs reportedly smuggling into the state from neighbouring Myanmar were recovered when the AT men launched an operation at Tronglaobi area on the Imphal – Churachandpur road on Wednesday.

The operation was conducted after stopping a private vehicle that led to the nabbing of one alleged drug trafficker namely Md Jalauddin, 33, a resident of Khomidok village in Imphal East district.

Upon his preliminary interrogation, it was established that Md Jalauddin’s brother-in-law (His wife’s brother) Ipham Ibomcha, a resident of Kwakta Khuman in the Bishnupur district has been assigned the task of transporting the illegal drugs at a location in Imphal.

In this connection, the drug trafficker Ipham Ibomcha was asked to surrender before the AT on or before May 20, 2024.

The confiscated drugs worth around Rs 20 lakhs in the local black markets were later destroyed, an AT leader added.
