ONGC Assam Asset headquartered at Nazira in Sivasagar district received 464 bids – one of the highest in the current tender for light commercial vehicles, a press communiqué issued by Corporate Communications, Assam Asset, ONGC, received here said.

ONGC had invited tender for 392 light vehicles with improved Bid Evaluation Criteria (BEC) in order to attract wider participation from people of the locality.

During the tendering process, 464 people/vendors participated and offered their bids. “This is one of the highest responses received for any tendering process within purview of Assam Asset in recent times,” the communique said.

After improvement and relaxation of BEC by ONGC as compared to standard BEC of the company, the Vehicles Contractor’s Association filed a writ petition in the Gauhati High Court against ONGC for making improvement and relaxation in BEC.

The matter is sub-judice and Gauhati High Court had directed ONGC to receive the bids for the tender.  The relaxation and improvement of BEC has opened the doors for wider participation in offering bids.

Apprehending trouble from the contractors’ body, ONGC has appealed to all concerned not to resort to any kind of agitation or obstruct ONGC officials from performing their duties in the national interest, the communiqué concluded.
